Statement from the Ambassador Mr.Salem bin Mubarak Al-Shafi

Dear brothers, sisters Visitors of the website of Qatar’s Embassy in Ankara / Turkey, May Peace and God's mercy and blessings be upon you. The bilateral relations between Qatar and Turkish Republic are based on understanding, mutual respect, and common interests, elements that are based on a solid foundation of the cultural and historical heritage, which brings together the peoples of the two countries. The last decade has seen a paradigm shift in the nature of relations between the State of Qatar and the Turkish Republic on a political, economic, trade and cultural levels. Political will of both countries has been demonstrated in developing bilateral relations in a shared vision about the nature of the challenges posed by various developments at a regional, international, and political level. Economically, we have an ambition to double the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in two years, and the same applies to investments. Turkish contracting and construction companies, have huge projects worth about $ 13.5 billion in the State of Qatar, which are completed or still under process. Qatar is considered to be the cornerstone of Turkish investment plans for the coming period, especially in the energy and transport areas where the Turkish government plans to investment worth of $130 billion in the energy sector and about $110 billion in the transportation sector, in addition to the desire of the Turkish government to reach agreements regarding LNG (Liquefied natural gas) supplies. The strong relations between the two countries on the political and economic level, have increased the communication between the two brotherly peoples on a cultural and humanitarian level, where the numbers of the Turkish community in the State of Qatar are increasing in recent years, and on the other hand numbers of Qatari tourists to Turkey rose by 110% during the past year. Our top priority, as a mission, is always to ensure to push the bilateral relations between the two countries forward, as well as to take care of the interests of our dear citizens and strengthen relations between the two peoples. That have been said, we hope that this website will be a good window to connect and communicate, and we welcome all opinions, inquiries, and suggestions, which will find all the attention, cooperation, and follow-up from us.
