Qatar Takes Part in 3rd Islamic Conference of Ministers Responsible of Water

Doha, May 18 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the 3rd Islamic Conference of Ministers responsible of Water in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hosted by the Government of the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul on 17 -19 May.
The conference which was attended by HE Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, was the 3rd Session of the OIC Conference of Ministers Responsible for Water to address the implementation of the OIC Water Vision which was adopted in 2012 by the 2nd Ministerial Conference in Istanbul. The main theme of the conference is "From Vision to Action", a press statement issued by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) stated on Wednesday.
In a speech before the conference, Dr. Al Sada praised the Government of the Republic of Turkey's role for hosting the third session of the Conference aimed at achieving integration and cooperation in dealing with water issues in order to attain water sustainability in all OIC member states.
He also highly appreciated the OIC 's vision on water "to work together for a secure future in the field of water," enhance cooperation and coordination of efforts between the Islamic countries to cope with water challenges and promote Islamic water security through the promotion of dialogue and exchange of experiences and reach effective solutions to the difficulties associated with security water in order to achieve social and economic development among OIC member states.
Dr. Al Sada stressed Qatar's keenness under the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to provide water to meet the growing needs of both the industrial and commercial sectors and domestic consumption.
The State of Qatar has launched Tarsheed, the National Campaign for the Conservation and Efficient Use of Water and Electricity in Qatar, aimed at meeting the targeted levels of water consumption per capita rate reduction within a 5- year timeline, he concluded.
The Conference aims to reach a consensus for the new concept on Water Council to enable a concrete cooperation platform under the umbrella of OIC water vision. (QNA)
