Turkish FM Praises Bilateral Ties, Stresses Consensus of Views on Regional Issues

Doha, February 15 (QNA) - Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Jawish Ihsanoglu on Wednesday hailed the 'distinctive' bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey, which have achieved a remarkable growth in all fields.
    In a statement to reporters made on the occasion of the official inauguration of the Turkish Hospital in Doha today, the Turkish top diplomat said Qatar and Turkey share excellent fraternal relations, stressing the special bilateral cooperation as well as the ongoing joint collaboration in various regional issues of concern.
     The Turkish Foreign Minister said the two countries share the same views and ideas on various regional issues and the two sides cooperate closely in this aspect.
The distinctive relations of cooperation between the two countries have paved the way for Turkish businessmen to invest in Qatar, which supports various Turkish companies and projects in Doha, which, according to HE Jawish Ihsanoglu, led to an increased number of companies that contribute in the renaissance of the State of Qatar.
     In response to reporters' questions on the Syrian crisis, HE Ihsanoglu renewed his country's political solution to the crisis, saying that: "This position is not only supported by Turkey, but also the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC)".
     On Astana talks on the Syrian crisis, in which Turkey took part, he pointed to the importance of these talks, stressing the need to resume the Geneva talks as soon as possible to reap benefits.
Turkey is currently exerting further efforts to resume the Geneva talks in order to obtain positive results, he said, explaining that he is conducting continuous discussions on all the developments regarding the Syrian issue with his counterparts in the region.
     Regarding his support for a political solution to the Syrian crisis and whether the solution includes Bashar al-Assad's stay in the presidency, the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed that a President, who brutally killed more than 600,000 people should not continue to rule his country.
The best solution is to form a transitional government and organize elections in which the Syrian people will decide, he went on saying.
     On the proposal of creating safe zones in Syria to allow the return of Syrian refugees, he said that Turkey hosts 3 million Syrian refugees, who hope to go back home soon, stressing the need to establish suitable conditions for safe areas through providing housing, health facilities, schools and other essential services.
     There is no common understanding between Turkey and Russia on a proposal for safe areas in Syria and there is an ongoing debate between the two sides on this issue, he clarified, stressing that on the other hand there is a common understanding between his country and the new US administration on this issue.
     Establishing a safe areas in Syria is an idea, which should be supported by all and once they are determined we need to build houses, schools, health facilities through a fund aimed at supporting these projects, he concluded.
The Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Jawish Ihsanoglu and Economy Minister Nihad Zabka inaugurated this morning the first Turkish Hospital in Doha, which includes all medical specialties with a capacity of a 100 beds and 5 operating rooms equipped with the most sophisticated surgical technology.
       The Turkish Foreign Minister told reporters that the hospital is a model for the Qatari-Turkish partnership. The hospital is equipped with sophisticated equipment along with various health and medical care departments under highly-qualified Turkish physicians, he added.
      Turkey is ahead of countries in the field of medical care and Turkish hospitals receive yearly many patients, he said, noting that the opening of this hospital in Doha will not only serve the Qatari citizens but also the whole region. (QNA)
