H.H. Emir Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strategic relations binding the two countries and ways of developing them in various fields.

The State of Qatar is participating in the fourth edition of Turkey’s international Holy Quran competition ", represented by Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Belidah. The Qatari contestant is competing along with 89 reciters from 55 countries for the memorization and recitation of the Holy Book, currently being held at Fatih Mosque in central Istanbul.

The State of Qatar has strongly expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the explosion that targeted a police bus in Beyazit Vezneciler area in central Istanbul, killing and wounding a number of people. In a statement issued Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry affirmed the State of Qatar's stand beside the Turkish Republic and its full support for all its actions to preserve security and maintain stability.

An official source at the Department of Consular Affairs at the Foreign Ministry stated that agreement on the abolition of visa requirements to holders of Qatari passports signed between the Governments of the State of Qatar and the Turkish Republic on 02/12/2015 entered into force on 28/5/2016.

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a telephone call on Monday evening with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim during which HH the Emir congratulated him on the occasion of his assumption of the post of prime minister, wishing him every success in his duties.
